Windows Validation

When I try to run the validation for downloads etc. I end up with a white
window shortly after this the computer locks up so much so that Ctrl|Alt Del
won't work and I get BSOD on reboot the only way I can get the computer back
is to remove the power lead for a couple of minutes. I don't think this is a
hrdware issue.
Can anyone help please

Don't use vaildation for downloads. Use Common Sense Computing.
