Windows upgrade from ME to XP home edition

Getting error message:- The language of this installation of windows differs from the one you are installing. The option to upgrade will not be available
Other error message:- Setup cannot continue because upgrade functionally is disabled and your copy of windows only allows upgrades
Am at a loss what to do as I am told that I should be able to upgrade with this software.

Languages between your XP upgrade CD and your existing version of ME don't
appear to be compatible. Make sure They are and try again. Another way of
doing it is by getting a full bootable copy of XP and do a clean install.

Note: A clean or fresh install will delete all existing files on your pc, so
backup if need be before doing anything.
