windows updating

I run the windows update for my HP pavilion, the scan works, the updating works, the installing works.....however when I run the scan again, the same updates are there to be installed again. Can anyone tell me why? Thx

offer for download in spite of the update seemingly having been successfully
'installed'.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I have a Compaq Presario with Windows XP Home Edition. I had a problem with the Blaster Virus, but the removal tool said it was removed?????? I currently have 10 critical updates and 11 XP Updates to put on, but no matter how I try to install them, they continue to re-appear on the update list. What do I need to do??
