Just installed the latest updates from Windows. Now, I cannot open Internet
Explorer. I get the error message " Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer " . Running Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.0.

<oops>

Try this fix:

Start > Run > (type in) cmd > OK

In the Command window, carefully type

netsh winsock reset

and press the ENTER key.

Reboot.

Tried the Winsock reset process, and it didn't work. Now getting messages
from AOL that firewall software may be blocking AOL software.

What AOL software? Is AOL your ISP?

Do you have a third-party firewall installed? What is it and what version
(e.g., Zone Alarm Pro v6)?

Do you have anti-virus protection? What is it and what version (e.g., NAV
2005)?

I had exactly the same problem yesterday after the updates. I have SP2
I have Norton antivirus and norton personal firewall.
Can run MSN Explorer browser but it is'nt the same!
anyone got any suggestions

Amazing! Just updated my McAfee software to VirusScan 2006, and now I can
access Internet Explorer. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. By the
way, I was using AOL dial-up, AdAware, Counterspy, Secure IE, Private IE.
