Have a Windows XP Home Edition system that doesn't do
windows updates properly. When you go to the windows
update site and scan for updates it shows the available
updates on the left side of the screen and everything
looks normal. This system has a few driver updates to do
and some optional updates. No critical updates are listed
and no updates are pre-selected. When you click on one
of the links to choose which updates to install, the
section that should list the available updates "mirrors"
the windows update page and loads the windows update main
page inside it. You can click scan for updates there and
get the same results. I've seen this before but I can't
remember how to solve it. Any ideas?

Well, I found the answer to my question and wanted to
share with anyone interested ;-) Seems the answer from
Microsoft is:

Why do I see the Windows Update site nested within
itself, in a frame?

You have Discussions open within Internet Explorer. As a
work-around, turn off Discussions when using Windows
Update. Do this by clicking the Discuss toolbar icon, or
in Internet Explorer 6, click View / Explorer Bar /
Discuss. We are investigating this problem and hope to
provide a solution shortly.
