When I go to "Tools", Windows Update, I get the usual
screen, after it does the "scan", it shows I have no
critical updates. However I do have Windows XP updates
and Driver updates. When I check the box to view the
recommended updates, the identical screen as the first
comes up in the open window telling me to scan for
updates. There is no way for me to view the updates I
need to download.

Can anyone help me solve this problem?

I have gone through your entire list. Nothing resolved
the problem. I did find one work around. When looking
for my product ID, I went into Help and Support. I was
able to update my windows programs. I never did find
my "PID" and so did not complete this step. However,
when I was in the "help and support" site, I was able to
update my Windows. However, I still cannot update
windows in the usual way. I tried to complete MKBA
#219843 but I was not sure about Host Files and if it
pertains to my problem.
In MKBA #193385 I tried to submit a Windows Update
Support Request but I could not determine my PID.

At this point I have removed two ActiveX Controls files
and do not know how to restore them.

Any help will be appreciated.
