I'm trying to do windows update. When it opens internet
explorer and show's this message...

Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update
software...

Depending on your connection speed, this might take a
minute. During this time, you may receive one or more
security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure
that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click
Install or Yes to install the software.


It freezes. The window stays there for a long time,
doesn't do anthing. It doesn't even pop-up window to
install a software for the windows update. Can someone
help me this..i'll appreciate that.

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

If that didn't work either, and you have Windows XP SP2 installed,
check that the WuWebControlClass is enabled in Internet Explorer:
