Hal

I, like Mitch Lewis, have been unable to use Windows
Update for the past few days. Each time I try to access
the critical updates they fail. Can anyone offer any
expliation or solution to this problem.

Thanks -- Hal

Hi Hal - Well, same answer I gave him. Try making these changes and trying
your update again.

The following is courtesy of Maurice Naggar, MVP and Kelly, MVP (slightly
modified by me):

First, be sure that your Date and Time including Zone are set correctly,
Then,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 wintrust.dll (from Kelly)

Then: Here's the whole spiel for Trusted Sites in IE.

Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Internet Options >

Security Tab/ click on green icon Trusted Sites/click Sites button.
Click "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" to
clear the
selection.

In the "Add this Web site to the zone:" field, add these entries to list of
"Trusted Sites"

Well this is the 12th stab in the dark from the MSVPs that
I have tried and still none of them work. Keep at it. One
of you is bound to hit the target even in the dark. The
law of averages says so. Good luck.
