Is any one else finding that updates are failing? I'm finding that, after accepting the EULA, the download dialog quickly goes through each of the updates [without downloading] then I get a message that the updates failed.

In Update.log, this line is repeated for each of the updates

Library download error and timed out (-1 ms). Will not retry. (Error 0x80072EE7)

I've tried the troubleshooter, but it doesn't mention this specific error. I've tried the suggestions for errors that are close this is one, but no difference.

Thanks

I too have been experiencing the same issues with
updating....except I do not get the error 0x90072EE7. I
just simply get installation failed...if you wish to
retry etc.

Hello Frank - yes I've had exactly the same experience at Windows Update.
Looks like the denial of service is indeed happening - either that, or
everyone is in such a panic to get their computers updated that the
server(s) is/are overloaded.

One can download the "Blaster Patch" here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp

and install it without going through the Windows Update site, and then will
be relatively safe until poor old MS can get things sorted out. This worm
was supposed to hurt Bill Gates, et al, but all it's really done is hurt a
bunch of simple folks that use computers as their window to the world.
There really are a lot of malicious bastards in the world, aren't there?

Anyway, at: www.symantec.com there is also additional info as well as a tool
to remove the worm - read the directions carefully; one must disable the
"Restore" feature to be sure the worm is properly eliminated.

HINT: post to newsgroups in "plain text" format - there are lots of folks
running news readers that are incapable of receiving HTML post; you'll get
more replies.

Regards,

- Geoff.
