Windows Update

I have two computers (or rather 1 pc and a laptop). On the PC Windows
update starts up automatically whenever there is an update, but on the
laptop I have to do it manually.

How do I turn on the automatic Windows update please?

Is hte automated update service running? if so, by default it is set to 3:00
AM, so if you close the laptop it goes to sleep, and no update will run. So
schedule the update for mid-day, when you are working and execute before
you l;og off.
