For the past week or so, I've run Windows XP Update for as long as an hour
with no results. I can't get beyond the startup message that Windows is
checking for the latest version. Has anyone else had this experience? If so,
is there any solution?
Thanks for any help you might have.

Hi Paul,

- From Start > Run > msconfig disable third-party utilities, such as
Download Accelerator.
- Verify that the date and hour of the system is correct.
- from Control Panel > Internet Options, delete Temporary Internet
Files, cookies and History.
- From IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced options tab, verify
that you have unchecked the option to verify revocation of server
certificates.
- From IE > Tools > Internet Options, click in language and verify
that you have defined the language of your operating system.
- Delete the folder 'catroot2' which is in \Windows\System32
- Reboot the system and try to update from Windows Update.
