About 4 months ago I believe I accidentally downloaded some Windows Quickfix or something that completely messed up my security and Logon/off abilities. Now, whenever I log on or off, instead of using the Welcome Screen with Quick Switching, it uses a small box, asking for a name and password. I can't switch even when using "Switch User", because it will say: "This computer is in use and has been locked. Only an administrator or "(User Name)" can unlock it. All three of my accounts are administrators, but only the one that wanted to "switch" could unlock it
I obviously went into control panel and tried the "Welcome Screen" and "Quick Switch" checkboxes, but both were already checked. I'm guessing it has something to do with a bad Windows Update that I didn't want
I also believe this has limited my network capabilities. This computer plus my other 2 are set up on a network, but this one cannot access any of the other two, and they can't access this one. I've taken off most of the security for the network to double check this, and nothing has changed. All three computers have the same network settings
I thought I found the solution to this problem last week, when I checked "Client for Microsoft Networks" Under "Local Area Connection Settings" on a different computer. After installing and resetting, it did the same thing as this one, using the Login problem. I uninstalled it on that machine and voila, it was gone. I excitedly went on this computer, but unfortunately, no such luck
I have been stuck like this for 4 months. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
