Hello all,

I'm try to find out if there is a way to effectively do a web style
"Update me now" type function, from the command line (scripted). While doing
research I've found that all references to registry entries point to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU

On my machine everything is at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\A
uto Update

Question is why the discrepancy, and what's the difference?

There is no Windows Update after Windows under Polices on my system. Your
first listed HKEY is incorrect.

So it sounds like you system is the same as mine. Take a look in
C:\Windows\INF at wuau.adm. This is the group policy template for windows
update. It references the first key listed below.

I fail to see the connection you are trying to make between the registry and
this file?????????
