I am having a problem with the Windows Update site that I
cannot seem to resolve.

I reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of
Windows XP. After the installation completed successfully
I went to the Windows Update site to download all the
critical updates.

I was able to click on the scan for updates link and it
then takes a long time to display the updates that I need
(like 2 minutes). There is also a message on the screen
that states "An error occurred while scanning for driver
updates. We are not able to display any updated drivers
for your system."

In the left pain I can see the number of critical updates
that need to be installed and I also see the number of
windows updates. There is nothing listed for driver
updates.

When I click on the icon to review and install updates
the page takes several minutes to display and comes with
a page cannot be display screen.

I through maybe I have a bad install so I reformatted and
installed again and the same problem still happens. I
thought maybe the Windows XP CD I had was bad so I
reformatted and installed with a different CD and still
the same problem happens.

If I go to the Microsoft downloads site I can download
and install updates from the without any problems. I even
downloaded SP1 and installed but the problem still
happens with Windows Update.

This computer was running Windows XP prior to me
reformatting the hard drive and doing the clean install
however it was upgraded from Windows 98.

Does anyone have any ideas???

I did a Google search on the error message and I found
two other people have encountered the same thing from
posts in other newsgroups but no one had posted replies
to they problems.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!
