Windows update...Please HELP

I have changed my settings for updates to notify me but
not to download and install updates. Yet I still the the
update icon on and it is downloading an update. I am sure
it is the sp2 which I don't want downloaded from the
internet. How can I stop the automatic update from
starting. I tried right clicking on it to exit or stop it
but nothing comes up.Everytime I sign on it starts
running from the point that I signed off. it is up to 50%
now. Please help me.
 
Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System>Automatic Updates Tab.
Check the box for Turn Off Automatic Updates.
 
I finally did that, I had checked the notify me but do
not download or install and it was running anyway so I
just turned it off and it seems to have worked, thanks.
