Windows update KB810217 is still coming back

Have now tried deleting the Update from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and reinstalling.
Have renamed CATROOT2 folder and reinstalled each time it
still say install ok
Update is logged as installed in Add & Remove Programs,
but still Windows Update offers it up to install each
time I scan for updates
I'm BEMUSED

Just be aware that Microsoft "automatic updates" is full of
holes and this problem is common place.
Savvy users have turned this "tool" off, and do their updates
manually by visiting windowsupdate.com at least once a week...

I have the exact sam problem with 2 updates. The latest
Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows XP (KB826939) only
when I do a manual scan and Security Update for Windows
XP (329834) only when automatic update does the scan.
Automatic update has reminded me and I have installed
329834 at least 31 times (actually my wife has, she has
strict instructions).

I have now tried the Catroot2 trick but when you do a
check for updates manually it still finds the update
Rollup patch needs to be reloaded.

Any more ideas?
