don't know what happened exactly. May actually be an IBM update manager
issue. I got an update that was installed for me by IBM auto update (my
brand) and it was a windows update of some sort. Anyhow, now my browser has
been hijacked maybe because when I start comp. and it makes me login as
administrator and my desktop has been replced by windows xp. None of my
faves are there and Firefox was also gone. It was as if I had reformatted my
HD. Tried a system restore and it won't restore. Oh and at startup there
is an error message that says "your previous profile has been corrupted."

Any ideas (besides calling IBM--i no longer have support w them)? Thanks!

The end of your message contains the most important info. Seems like
your old profile has been corrupted. Create a new one and work in that
for a bit. If all seems ok then copy the information from the old one
to the new then delete the old.

Thanks for the answer. I do agree, esp after I found I could only do a system restore from a fresh (?) boot (overriding IBM tools). The system restore worked--sort of. It loaded a restore point, but the profile is still gone. I will give it shot. Thanks!
