I noticed I couldn't open certain programs such as defrag. In fact
anything in the help support area won't open.I tried to see if I
needed any updates but it said I'm running an unoffiicial version & it
won;t validate my version.this is the same comp I've been using all
along w/ no problems.I really don't want to reinstall
thanks

Where did the version of XP you have come from? It certainly could be that
your version is legitimate but then again it might not. Issues with
validation are best posted to the WGA newsgroup for XP. Here is a link for
it. I recommend you resolve that issue first.

thanks ,the version came with it

Saying the "version came with it" isn't very clear. If you mean
preinstalled by a major OEM, like Dell or HP, ok it would be legit. If it
was installed by a small system builder, then there could be a problem.
You're best approach is to post to the WGA forum I gave the link for.
