I have over 200 Windows XP & 98 machines. When I try to
update via Windows updates, I get an error. It gives me
no code to reference just a screen with the updates in
bold red letter's telling me updates failed. I tried one
at a time, first on the list first, last, middle. If this
were one machine I would simlpy reload, but it is a great
number of machines. This is happening on both 98 and XP
OS. Please help.

Hope some of this assists you otherwise post to the Windows Update NG with a
list of things you're already tried.

In addition you may wish to try this suggestion from Lucy [MSFT] to register the
following files:
"1. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SOFTPUB.DLL"
(w/o the quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.
2. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\INITPKI.DLL"
(w/o the quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.
3. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSSIP32.DLL"
(w/o the quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.
4. Now try the Windows Update site and see if you get the same error."

These are some good suggestions and I'll try them. Something I failed to mention before is that I'm running a network on Netware 5.1 NOS and Zenworks 4. These are Zenworks images I'm trying to update...not stand alone machines. If there was a way to delete the whole update library and install everything from scratch, OR delete the history and have it analyise the machine for missing updates, that would be the best solution. I think because the image had been updated, MS webupdate is getting confused because of some incongruency.
