I just finished installing SP2 from the big file-266MB.
Everything seems to work just fine except one of Windows
own little program: Windows Update!! I can't find
anything in a Knowledge base but thought I saw something
about it in this forum but can't remember when. It is
error # 0x80072EFD.

You might want to check the postings in the Windows Update Newsgroup:

I will check it out but I think it is a Norton Firewall
problem. I disabled Norton and turned on XP firewall and
it cleared up the problem. I will go to Symantec web site
and see if I can get some help.----Not likely!

.I also had a lot of problems trying to download Service
PAck 2. I went to this site:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;836941&Product=winxp

Before I attempted what this site said, I would try the
download and it would work for about 5 seconds and then
quit and I would get error ox80072efd

I followed the instructions by going into my Norton
Internet Security and adding the sites as trusted sites.
However, I had read other posts that had problems with
the format of the web address so I just copied each
address, but with out the lead, (http://) eg. v5micro
etc, dropping off the first part. I copied and pastred
to get the addresses correct, without the lead.

Then I tried the download and it ran for about 30 minutes
(Ihave DSL) and then it quit with, with the same error
code. I then went back to the above site and followed
the instruction; Start, RUN, etc :flush, etc. and then
tried the download and it worked!

Also, I was having problems with a very slow startup, 2-4
minutes and that has improved a lot!!!!

I hope this helps.
