Windows update error 0x80248011

Recently got this error message when trying to update Win XP Home.
According to this my history of updates is non existent when I
previously had installed SP 1 and all the security patches. Tried a fix
gathered from the Microsoft Update site which suggested I delete all
cookies, clear history and delete all off-line content (All in Internet
Explorer Options). This had no effect whatsoever! For info I do run
Spybot and Adware in addition to Norton Firewall and anti virus
programmes. Any ideas?

Uninstall any firewall if you have on your computer.Create a new user account
and than try to update it.
 
Thanks to all. Problem of error 0x80244001 solved by going into
start>run>typing regsvr32 MSXML3.dll. Clicking OK
This was found as, suggested, in the Google groups.
