Mister Scary

Windows update consistently hangs at the end of verifying the latest
cumulative update to Internet Explorer 7. I need to delete all of my most
recent downloads from Windows Update and start over. How do I do that?

I need to delete all of my most recent downloads from Windows Update
and start over.

Why do you think you need to do that?

You can uninstall through Start, Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs,
Change or Remove Programs.

Hope this helps.

Select, Start, Help and Support, Keep your Windows up- to-date with
Windows Update, Review your Update History and click on the Failed Icon
(if any) in the Status Column. What does it say for the failed update??

It shows the particular update of interest as having been cancelled twice.
I've already told you - something is wrong with the download and I need
to get Windows to re-download the update.

If you click on the red failure icon it will give you an error code.
What is the error code?

I just told you, there is no red failure icon.

Does the User Profile you are using have Administrators rights?

What does it say in the WindowsUpdate.log located in C:\windows. You
will find a long list as the log is cumulative. Please copy the section
covering the relevant attempt to update.

I got a rather contorted procedure on how to remove Windows Update
downloads from MS support - before I did it though I ran disk cleanup
and then manually got rid of the remains in my Windows temp folder
(I always have to go into safe mode to cleanup those perflib files).
After rebooting I tried Windows Update and this time the download was
validated quickly. Maybe it was luck. Thanks for your help.
