Windows Update don't work

I run presently MS Windows XP Professional Version 2002
Service Pack 2 on my station (IBM ThinkPad T-41).

I tried to complete a Windows System Update as usual
through the Microsoft Public WEB server and it don't
work.

Windows Update begin to scan the PC and display the
following error message:

[Error number: 0x80240030]
Windows Update has encountered an error and
cannot display the requested page.

I'm not alone in my company that experience the same
problem. It's like if Windows Update are performed
diffently now.

your lucky you got that far, my pc wont even scan for updates after i
installed sp2

I just tried the Windows update site and I get an error message.
[Error number: 0x800A01CE]
Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page.

There is no troubleshooting info for this error number that I could find.

Pretty impressive when the newly updated software breaks our
ability to receive future updates.
