Windows Update doesn't download

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to access the windows update in order to
update my computer. I already have that Blaster
protection, at least I think I do since it doesn't show
up on the updates screen, so that's not what I'm after.

I'm actually just trying to get the DirectX 9.0b End-User
Runtime update, which needs to be installed by itself. I
get to the point where the update window pops up and it
says "Preparing to download..." but Download Progress and
Install Progress just sit there empty. If ANYONE could
help me get around this, it would be terribly helpful.

Stay away from MS's web installer. It seems more people have problems
with web installs, than downloading the whole package, which is 32 MBs.
