George,

Who do you "update" at run time?
You cannot use MS WU website - it is not supported (see NG archive for
numerous posts on the subject).

Also, if you do not satisfy all the dependencies needed you cannot run XP
Pro QFE directly on the image.
You will need to include recent Desktop QFE Installer component in your
configuration (check OEM secure site to download the component).

I want update my image after FBA, but when i updata, it show the error:
Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Updata.inf. Make sure the
Cryptographic service is running on this computer.

I open the service manager, and double click the Crytographic service, it
show error, just means:
service control manager:The instance handle is not matching to the current
device.

How should I do, that i can update my image after FBA.
BTW: I have installed the Q842930_xpe_sp2_x86_enu.exe already, but the error
still appears.

George,

I wa actually asking about the QFEs you tried to run on the target. You have
replied in the next message, I see.

I guess there may be a (*another*) bug in the Desktop Installer app you just
found.

Try copy a XP Pro QFE manually on to the device and launch it manually again
(no DUA in the test).

Regarding Crytographic service... I doubt running the service will help you
much but try including "Cryptographic Service Providers" and "Core
Certificate Services" components (both are with visibility = 200) and
resolve their dependencies.

Also, search this NG archive for Cryptographic Service problems. Thre have
been many threads on the topic.

George,

The second one may have problems with the QFE Desktop Installer. It was
published on 5/10/2004.
However, the first security patch is pretty recent - 6/8/2004. This is a bug
then.

Hope MS (Jon?) reads the newsgroup and sees your test results.

How can I let the Cryptographic Services start, I should add which
components?

George,

No problem.

I noticed that sometimes (if not often) we need a second pair of eyes to look at what we do with a fresh review :-)

Download the QFE, and double click it to install it (not use import function
manually).
The make a new image, include the "Desktop QFE Support" component, check and
build it.
I know that the Desktop tools can let most of the QFEs run on runtime image,
but not all.

I think maybe there are something wrong with the DUA, but i don't know where
are wrong.

I use the service manager to check the Crytographic service, it show some
error message. So i want to know how to start(include) the service into the
image.

I try the WindowsXP-KB839643-x86-ENU.EXE and WindowsXP-KB840374-x86-ENU.EXE,
it can work.
I think maybe the QFEs that i download problem. -_-bbb

Yes, after install the QFE desktop installer, I test the wrong QFEs. :(
Now I have fixed this problem. Thanks very much :-)
