Hi
I just found in the registry where to delete the Windows Tour. My
question is," Are there a lot of bad things going to happen when I do
that?

I want to be able to click on windows explorer and when it opens find
nothing else opened at all. Not "My Documents, or the c,d,e,or f
drives. How can permanently get rid of this?

And for a totally unrelated question, (what is a good drive recovery
tool). I need to be able to find folders and files on a formatted and
partially over written drive. If SHMBKH finds out these files age gone
<gulp> so am I.

Thanks
Steve

Can't advise on the deleting the registry value since you did not name the
key where you see this entry?

For the second request, right click the Windows Explorer shortcut and place
the following in the Target line:

%systemroot%\\explorer.exe /e,

For the last problem, if the drive has been formatted and partially
overwritten, it will likely take a professional recovery service to get
those files back.

Hi Steve,

After three prompts, there is no need to suppress via the registry. And
there have been many that has deleted Windows Tour without any repercussion.

As for your Explorer View - the correct path is: C:\Windows\Explorer.exe
/e,

For Explorer, use Windows Key +E to open with focus on My Computer
--Or--
Make an explorer.exe shortcut with a target line that reads:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,

Note the comma at the end of the target line

Ronnie:

How does one create a "short cut" for the Explorer program. I tired to right
click it to find the "create a short cut" and that menu box didn't come up.

I would like to make a short cut for it.

I have windows XP "Home' edition.

TIA

There should be a default shortcut to Windows Explorer in Start/All
Programs/Accessories. If it is not there, go to Search and search for
Explorer.exe. It should be found in the C:\Windows folder. Right click this
file in the search window and select Create Shortcut. Click Yes to place the
shortcut on the Desktop and drag it from there to wherever you wish to place
it. Once this is done, you can right click and select Properties and place
the following in the Target line.

%systemroot%\\explorer.exe /e,
