I am not sure as I have never been to that area on my computer which is a
Dell Dimension 8300.
Thanks

I went to the sound applet in Control Panel and selected Windows sounds for
logon and logoff but still there is no sound. Please help!

Are other sounds (or music) otherwise being heard thru your speakers? If no, check on the (Sound) Volume Control settings to make sure "Mute All" is not on ( not checked).

Can you hear ANY sound from your speakers? Or is it just these 2 sound
events that are not working? Did you play the selected sound file to
make sure you hear something?

Try running the "ding wave file" under where did my sounds go.

Also (this drove me nuts for a fews weeks,I had the same problem)
if you have tweakui installed make sue the "beep on errors" has a checkmark
in the box,if it doesn't you won't get any startup or shutdown sounds.
Hope this helps.

The name of the music is: Windows Welcome Music
The file name is: Title.wma
File location is: C:\Windows\System32\oobe\images
File size is: 2,564kb
Do a search for the file to check if you still have it.
