I am running XP Professional. When Windows starts the
default opening windows music makes a broken/jittering
sound. Does anyone have an answer for this. I know of
other XP users who are experiencing the same problem.

First, check for updated drivers for your soundcard. Second, look at other
things that are opeining on startup. Begin with the startup folder on the
start menu, disable items one by one, you may have to temporarily move the
shortcut to a temp folder. Test the system after disabling or otherwise
moving a shortcut from the Startup folder and see if the problem goes away,
if it does, that particular application may be interferring with the startup
sound. It's possible updating the application might resolve the issue.

There are other possibilities. If your graphics card is sharing memory with
main system memory, XP being rather graphics intensive may require more than
available memory to play the startup sound. Bear in mind, there are a lot
of things still loading as the startup sound plays and these things all
require memory as well.

Third possibility, the startup wav is corrupted...I'm dubious that this is
the case but it does happen. Check out the other things first.
