windows sounds disappeared

I want my windows sounds back, they have all disappeared. I get the odd beep
but no click when I click mouse, no beep when I get a new message etc etc.
My sound card is working ok because I can play music.

I have the same issues. I have tried the restoresounds registry edit see
item 6

but that doesn't work with me. It might with your problem
Is your control panel -sounds- triangular preview button greyed out when
selecting a theme of sounds?
Can you set a midi output device that stays when you click and apply. I
can't with my issue
I have yet to find a solution

Still doesn't work Sheri, tried the reg fix, certain sounds appear to be
working but not all

If you have found out can you let me know as I have same problem. I have checked everything I can think of.
