I just downloaded and installed Service Pack 2, and now I have the Windows
Security Alerts on my Taskbar. I have Firewall & Autumatic Updates turned OFF
(as I have a Firewall and I like to get my own updates) and the Virus
Protection as "Not Monitored" as I have my own Virus Protection already
enabled.

The balloon keeps popping up telling me of my "status". How can I turn this
thing off and get it off my Taskbar?

It's coming up because you have the firewall and updates turned off.

You can tell it to stop bugging you by going in Control Panel---> Security
Center and clicking the item on the left called "Change how security center
notifies me"... and uncheck the appropriate boxes there.

Thanks Colin!
