I need to reinstall windows on my gateway machine. I am aware that i cannot
use a retail windows cd with my windows product key that is on the back on my
computer tower. Because it is OEM, the retail windows CD will not accept it.
Gateway will not replace my broken repair disc unless i pay through the nose.
What are my options for reinstalling windows if i want to use the windows key
that came from gateway; the key physically on the outside of the tower for
the reinstallation?
Thank you.

Q. "What are my options for reinstalling Windows if I want to use the Windows key
that came from Gateway..."

A. Order the Gateway Recovery CD or else purchase a conventional
"Full Version" of Windows XP. The Gateway Product Key is
only valid with Gateway's Recovery CD.

If you want to use the Product Key on the Gateway machine, either order
a replacement cd from Gateway or buy an OEM version of Windows matching
yours (Home or Pro). It is probably cheaper to buy the cd from Gateway.
Or just use the retail product and its key.
