My computer will randomly restart, and I am trying to
figure out why. In the Administrative Tools, Event
Viewer, it reports the following error:

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2
bf87ba3b, parameter3 f586dc0c, parameter4 00000000.

When I go to the support site, it give me two options
that fit my rpoblem (i.e., random restarts) and none of
the fizes fit the exact error message or fix the problem.

After the computer reboots, it runs scandisc and reloads
windows and everything, then gives me the send error
report screen, which I dutifully send each time. It then
kicks me to a web site on Microsoft.com that tells me
that a driver caused a problem but Windows cannot tell me
which one.

Any ideas?

What is the Event ID and Source listed for the error?

See MVP Jim Eshelman's web page for STOP errors at
http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm and click on the "8E: Kernel
Mode Except..." item in the left side column.

Good luck
