Hi,

A friend of mine recently disabled his onboard video
card, and made a nice attempt at installing an upgraded
card. When he booted the computer with the new card, a
dialog box came up stating that Windows was unable to
check the license files, with error 0x8007007e. It will
not complete a logon process, and has the same error
after he takes the new card out, and re-enables the
integrated video. He is running Windows XP Home edition.
What can be done to fix this? Please reply preferably to
(e-mail address removed) Thanks!

It has nothing to do with disabling the video card. I disabled the on-board
video on mine and installed two additional cards and it works fine.

Well then how do I fix it? I cannot logon, I haven't
tried safe mode, although I will next time I get access
to his machine. You're right, the only info I have found
on this pertains to windows update, but the issue still
continues to be a problem, which hasn't surfaced until
the video change. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
