Windows "pop-up"

I have a window that will open and close very quickly in the taskbar. A
window never open on the screen. How can I find out what is doing this and
get rid of it? Thanks!

I was having the same trouble and i did what "Rock" suggested. cos it
happens so quick tho i instead took a screen grab of task manager window when
things are normal, and then again when the mysterious taskbar tab pops up.
(just sat for 20 mins or so staring...waiting...BORING)

after comparing the two i think the culprit is something to do with some of
my printer software. the process that appears with the tab for me is
"hptskmgr.exe"

hptskmgr.exe was the culprit. Turns out it was part of my HP printer software.

Solution, run msconfig and find all HP related startup processes and uncheck
their boxes. Restart your comp and voila!
