I recently installed WinAce on my computer and then uninstalled the program
because I did not like it!!! But now I can't use my Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer when I try to download anything to look at such as pictures. Can
someone
help me get my computer back like it was before? I am using Windows XP SP2.
Thanks so much for your help!!!

Read the instructions at the top
Scroll down to
80. Disable or Restore Picture and Fax Viewer
Click on Restore

pictureandfaxrestore.reg is the file that will download.

And try this...

Click Start | Click Run | Paste: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll | Click OK

If that doesn't work, make sure Preview default is set correctly.

When you open an image file in Windows XP the default action is to preview
it using the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\
ShellImagePreview
Value Name: (Default)
Value Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: {e84fda7c-1d6a-45f6-b725-cb260c236066}

Also if that doesn't work...
[[Installing a third-party image editor or viewer applications may sometimes
hijack the image file associations. In those cases, this utility allows you
repair the file associations for the following image file types to Windows

You might also check your file associations. Open something like My
Documents or My Pictures. Click on Tools, Folder Options and File Type.
Scroll down and make sure that Extensions (on the left)for your pictures
such as JPG, JPE and JPEG show a file type of Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer. I they don't (they may still be showing WinAce), click Change and
select the appropriate program. Check other pictures extensions such as
TIFF, etc.

I have done everything you said to do, but it now says no preview available.
Before I installed WinAce, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer would open all
my items including zip files and text, but now nothing!!! What have I done
wrong?
