windows not displaying

I was removing norton 2003 and installing zonealarm and now the different
screnes in windows do not completely display. Try to do a search and I see
only the dog nothing else. try to look at users in control panel get just
user accounts at the top back and forward button and home button nothing
else. Try to do a restore but same thing cannot see anything on windows.
Would hate to have to reinstall xp to fix
 
This happened to me and I didn't know why ... it had to do with something
overwriting shdocvw.dll and mshtml.dll
It either has become unregistered or wrong version was replaced upon
removal.

Current version shdocvw.dll: 6.0.2900.2919
mshtml.dll: 6.0.2900.2912

Check your versions and if wrong then check your C:\I386 folder or your
Windows XP installation disk.
Once reinstalled in C:\Windows\System32, you will have to re-register each:
regsvr32 [filename]
 
Thanks I got tired of trying to fix it and reinstalled windows but your fix I
am sure would have fixed it I used it one time before but forgot how I did it.
