Windows network - VPN problem

I have set up a wireless network and have successfully set up file and drive
sharing.
When I connect to a Cisco VPN client, I can no longer access anything on my
widows network. The error message says the I don't have the proper access.
As soon as I disconnect from this VPN everything is OK.

Any thoughts anybody?

Your VPN client is very sensibly protecting the destination network from
unauthorized traffic, by blocking anything besides the VPN tunnel traffic
when the client is active. This is very common, and I personally think it
makes a lot of sense.

This VPN protecting its destination network may be common and sensible, but
is there something that can be done so that I can be connected to the VPN and
still have my network (2 computers) still do what I want it to do?

That's probably best asked of the admins who manage the remote network and
whom, I presume, have supplied you with the VPN client. I don't know where
this would be changed in the software itself, or if it even could be.
