Windows Messenger Question

I've got MSN Messenger but a few times a day I get a Windows Message that
just pops up, mostly SPAM. How or can I turn that off? Plus can I get MSN
Explorer off my PC?
 
I hate Windows Messenger also. I went to google.com and put in these words 'disable Windows Messenger in Windows XP'" and boy, did I get alot of resources. You can also uninstall it thru Add/Remove Programs it is in the Window setup files. But the problem I have is even thou I have it uninstall/disabled the damn icon still appears with a X thru it every time I load IE or Outlook. Hope this helps.
 
There is nothing in my Add/Remove... on Windows Messenger. Just MSN
Messenger 6.2 whish is different.

Go to add/remove programs..add/remove windows components..uncheck MSN
Explorer.

Thanks again Lance, I didn't even know about that add/remove Windows
Components being an XP newbie. I even found Windows Messenger there to.
