Whenever I log on the internet I get a popup about installing the latest
window messenger which I'm not interested in since I don't use it. Is there
any way to stop this from happening?

Thanks

Yes, open Windows Messenger and configure that in its preferences.

Goto grc.com and find the program "shoot the messenger". Download and run it.
There are other small FREE utility programs at that site that can turn off other
Windows functions that you probably don't need running.

Make sure a firewall is turned on. And you need to disable or remove the
Messenger service.
