The "msmsgs.exe" component of Windows Messenger simply won't die. I can kill the "msmsgs.exe" process and it will restart by itself after a few minutes. I've turned off the option within Messenger to start at system startup and still the msmsgs.exe process starts
What is this process for and how do I get it to stop running
The reason I want to stop it is because Windows Messenger throws all kinds of traffic onto my network. It is very busy, constantly sending out http requests and such even if you are not using it or even if you are NOT signed in. I can get ride of almost all of this traffic by not letting Messenger ever startup on boot up but there is still a consistant attempt to check a POP3 server at ms8.netsolmail.com. It seems that for some reason "msmsgs.exe" attempts to check this POP3 server every few minutes. I don't know why but I would like to stop it from doing this
Can anyone help me out please
