Hello. I have downloaded the latest version of the
Logitech QuickCam software (v.8.3). When I open the
software, there is a button there that says "Windows
Messenger" I do not have Windows Messenger Enabled on my
computer, I use MSN Messenger 6.2 instead.

If I "remove" Windows Messenger (actually removing it -
not just disabling it in the control panel) will that
button go away?

I have tried Logitech support on this one, but there are
no answers there.

Any help would be appresiated.

Thanks,

Francis

Greetings Francis,

I don't actually have a QuickCam camera at the moment to know for sure, but Windows Messenger
comes with Windows XP and Logitech has integrated it into their software (something they've
been doing for a few years now).

If you forcibly remove Windows Messenger, not only will some functions in Windows and MSN
Messenger no longer work (Whiteboard, Application Sharing, and Remote Assistance) as well as
other programs which integrate Messenger may experience some trouble, although most have ways
of getting around the problem (like Outlook Express for instance). It's best just to leave
it there but just not use it.
