I installed XP-SP2 yesterday, and I'm having problems with Windows Messenger
sending me an alert when I have email on my MSN/Hotmail account. I can go
to MSN.com and sign-in and see there is email in my account, but no
notification through Windows Messenger any longer?????

Go to this link ( http://home.comcast.net/~mwgross/techpage.html ) and
you'll see the screen I get when I click on "the Bell" in my Windows
Messenger window. My thought was to go try to reset the alerts on the .Net
Passport site. I've also made a few other comments on the graphic at this
web page that I would like to have comments on.

Can anyone tell me what might be happening or how I can fix this? Please...
none of the uninstall/reinstall theories.

Thanks in advance for any forthcoming help/info for this group. Best
regards... Gunner

Greetings Gunner,

Actually, the Windows Messenger version within SP2 does not have support for Add-ins which is
required for MSN support within Windows Messenger. As such, in order to get this
functionality back, you'll either need to downgrade to the previous version of Windows
Messenger (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp) or use MSN Messenger
instead (http://messenger.msn.com/Download).
