Every time I connect to the internet I am getting a pop
up offering a new version of Windows messenger. How do I
get rid of this annoying pop up?

Why not turn off MSN Messenger completely, or better yet, uninstall it if
you do not use it at all?

Well you could do the upgrade. :) Or, you could turn Windows Messenger off completely. If you are going to run it, then you should stay current with newest builds as they sometimes address security issues. If you don't want to run it, open it up, go to Tools/Options, Preferences tab, and uncheck the box that has Windows Messenger start when Windows starts.

To stop the pop ups, go to msn Icon open it and click on
(Tools) then Click on (Options) then take (General) then
remove the tick on Automatically run Messenger ( the first
one), I am a were that messenger is a part of windows &
can not be removed, but you can stop it from running or
Pop Ups.

How do I find the msn icon to do that? I can't seem to
find it. Is it the msn explorer program? I tried that and
screwed up my desktop didplay. Where I had shortcuts to
my email program and my ISP home page, those shortcuts
now go to msn explorer, which I do not use. How do I
restore the shortcuts to what they were?
