| I downloaded windows media player version-9 when I attempt
| to run it I get the error message that an internal
| application error has occured. can anyone help?
Without the exact Error Message it is very difficult to
troubleshoot. A query of the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the
following...
WMP AND "9 Series" AND "internal error"
.... returns two hits. Perhaps you can find the solution in one
of these Articles:
KB827560 - FIX: Small delay when Windows Media Player 9 Series
switches files that are streamed from a Windows Media Services 9
Series server
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Product=winxp&scid=kb;en-us;827560
KB836544 - FIX: You cannot seek some MPEG4 content in Windows
Media Player 9 Series
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Product=winxp&scid=kb;en-us;836544
And if those do not help perhaps you can find the solution on the
following Web Page. (Do not let the misleading title of the Web
Page dissuade you. The page is anything but a "Mini-FAQ").
WMP Mini-FAQ
Q: Why am I getting an internal application error trying to
launch the player?

http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#internalapp
And if that does not help you can find peer-to-peer support for
Windows Media Player Technologies in the following newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player
AKA: Windows Media Player
The following Web Page has a link you can click to access the
newsgroup with your Web browser:
Microsoft Windows Media Community on Expert Zone
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/communities/mediaplayer.mspx
If you read newsgroups using a Network News Transfer Protocol
(NNTP)-based newsreader such as Outlook Express, and use the
msnews.microsoft.com news server, here is a link:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player
And the Windows Media Player Experts will be better able to
analyze the problem you are experiencing if you include the
answers to questions such as:
- The exact text of the Error Message. NOTE: If the error
message is contained in a popup dialog box you may be able to
copy the exact text by pressing the keys CTRL+C, and then paste
the Error Message into any text-editor type application.
- Any relevant information found in Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc).
NOTE: To copy and paste the details of an event found in the
Event Viewer click the Copy button, then paste it in your
newsgroup post.
- Whether or not your computer has a CD-R(W) installed. And if
the answer is yes, whether or not you have installed any 3rd
party applications for burning. And if that answer is yes, the
exact name and version of the 3rd party application.
- Your Operating System version and service pack level. You can
determine those things by opening Control Panel, clicking System,
and reading the General tab.
- The exact Windows Media Player version. For more information
see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
KB190990 - How to Determine the Version of Windows Media Player
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Product=winxp&scid=kb;en-us;190990
- Whether or not you have Administrative privileges. You can
determine this by opening Control Panel, then opening User
Accounts and viewing the description of your Account.
- Whether or not your computer is a member of a domain. And if
the answer is yes, they will probably suggest that you discuss
this issue with your Systems Administrator and/or Computer
Technician.
