windows media player simply won't start!

my windows media player will not run at all! i've tried clicking a media file to open it, opening it with its actual program file, right-clicking and hitting "open," but nothing works! help please!
 
Go to Start > Run and in the Run box copy, then paste, the following:

"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\setup_wm.exe"

Then hit the Enter key to reinstall Windows Media Player.
