I am getting the following message when trying to send emails. I was
receiving emails just fine. Can someone please help?

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was xxxxxxxxxx. Subject 'test', Account:
xxxxxxxx, Server: xxxxxxx, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '473
xxxxxxxrelaying prohibited. You should authenticate first', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 473, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Open Windows Mail

Goto
Tools > Accounts...

Select your current account

Click Properties

Click Servers

At the Bottom of that window - under Outgoing Mail Server:

Check "My server requires authentication"

Click Settings... (Which is right next to it)

In the Settings... window that just popped up:

Click "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"

That should be it!

But if it didn't help, tell me your ISP or your mail account company, like
Gmail or something, It's on the end of your email address

Reply back and tell me if this worked, Thanks!

Thank you so mucu - it is now working. I was just wondering though - why did
it work in the first place. I just got this pc and it worked great for a
couple of days. Then when I loaded the needed updates, it stopped working.
Should I try and load those updates again?

Thanks

Well, there are many things that could have happend, like:

-Corrupted update file, (Rare, but can happen)

If you do a system restore to the date before you installed the updates, and
reinstall the updates, that may help some of your problems

-Another problem-Low disk space...

Sometimes Vista does some weird things when you have a lower GB harddrive,
try getting an external drive or manually installing a slave drive... Just
make sure you don't fool with your C Drive... VERY DANGEROUS!

-Low memory

If your computer ever gets slow... you need to install RAM(Random Access
Memory)
That is located on the motherboard of your PC... These are mostly low-cost
like $80 for like 500mb or something... Make sure you TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER
before you do anything though. :)

All I can think of right now...

-Thanks

(If ever need web design, i'm here to help)
