I am setting up mail on a new labtop using Vista. It began with this new
Windows Mail program (saying it is an upgrade for outlook) and presented me
with a new address with the extension ..... @microsoft .com. What should
my outgoing mail and incoming properties be for such a service?

It is an upgrade for Outlook Express, not Outlook. Some people
will disagree that upgrade is the right word, though.

Any address it gives you ending in @microsoft.com is unlikely to
work, unless you work for Microsoft. You should set it up to use
your old email address; instructions for setting up under Outlook
Express should also work under Windows Mail, unless they call
for using the HTTP protocol.
