When trying to access Windows Mail I get a message to say that 'connection to
the server has failed. Account: POP3.btconnect.com', Server:
'POP3.btconnect.com', Protocol: POP3, Port110, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error
10060, Err0r Number: 0x800CCC0E'

I am still able to access the internet so I am unsure how this ties up with
the socket error.

Any suggestions?

Disable any third party mail scanning applications such as anti-virus or
spam blocker.
Norton and McAfee do not work well with Windows Mail, and you would do well
to totally remove either and get a free one from the internet, such as AVG
or Avast.
