Am trying to help my parents sort out a problem their having receiving mail
using their new Vista laptop with Windows Mail. Have read all the suggestions
made on other threads about this problem but nothing works. Any ideas?

They can send mail no problem but cant receive anything. I have made sure
that messages are kept on the server on both their laptop and PC. I've
disabled all anti-virus programs and firewalls.

Normally, when setting up email, you need to make sure your outgoing and
incoming server addresses, usually mail.XXXX.net/com and smtp.XXXX.net/com.
Often some type SMPT vice SMTP and mail goes out but doesn't come back.
Otherwise, your internet service provider helpdesk should be able to help.

Thanks Tiger45 but all the connection properties have been typed in correctly
(despite my terrible typing skills)

Since you have read all of the suggestions from other people you know that
we need to know the error message and exactly what happens when they click
the account under Send/Receive to receive.

And if she sends herself an email?
Is someone checking the account from another program that is deleting
messages as it downloads them? WinMail will do this if you don't change the
accounts Properties.

Sent a message from Windows Mail (and Yahoo!) but nothing. Checking the
account on their PC and evrything is fine. Have set the 'Leave a copy of
messages on the server' on both the laptop and PC

Sorry, but if the mail is there to be downloaded and the settings are all
correct as required by the mail provider then I don't know.
