hello
need help, all of a sudden today windows mail is askingme to input my user
id & password. never did this till today. dont know why... cant get it to
stop popping up.thanks in advance

This happened to me when my ISP (clearwire) changed their server security to
require "all lowercase letters" in the logon ID. For example, in the server
tab in accounts, what had been working was: "(e-mail address removed)" and what I
had to do was change it to "(e-mail address removed)". That fixed the problem. Try
and see if this works.

thanks william. but the problem is that I have NEVER had to sign on to
windows mail. just open it & I am good to go... today it is asking me for
sign on info... which of course I cant remember what it is.. but its just odd
that all of a sudden it wants this info to get new mail.
program will opne, but cant gt new email

well I was able to get new email, the only prblem is that its new email
starting from MARCH 2007!! this is rediculous...

yes i need help..I discovered last nite the same thing.all of a sudden i
can't receive emails and its asking for log on security..what is going on..

So did you enter the correct username and password?
If you can't remember what that is, you will have to contact
your mail provider.

OK guys, WHAT is going on with Windows Mail. Today 3/14/2008 is the very
first time windows mail is asking for my USER NAME and pswd, EVERY single
time i sign on. And if you click remember my credentials, that doesn't even
work! It does not remember your credentials.
Does anyone know how to disable this annoyance????????????

Why is windows mail asking for USER name and pswd all of a sudden???

How do i turn it off????????

Why are you asking the same question in two separate threads?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not compatible
with Windows Mail, and will cause account corruption over time.

I have the same question. All of a sudden I have to sign in each and
everytime to update msg. Does anyone have a solution?

Which antivirus are you using? Some of them are not very compatible
with Windows Mail.

Add me to the list of annoyed Vista users..I have been able to turn off
the user account control for the browser, and its corresponding
security warning nag on the toolbar, and set the bootup login password
automatically, but to keep getting the windows mail security asking me
to log in every single time I check my mail is too much. I am running
Norton 2008 AV. If the nag cannot be turned off, can anyone recommend a
replacement pop3 mail program ?

Most versions of the Norton antivirus program are known to cause
various problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Windows Mail has a quirk that often makes it forget the password
if you click Apply in the same session that you tell it to start
remembering the password - but requires you to click Apply
in the same session in which you tell it the password to remember.
To handle this, click on Tools, then Accounts, then the email
account for which it won't remember the password, then Properties,
then Servers. If there is no checkmark in the box before
Remember password, click on this box, then OK, then Close,
then start over. If there is a checkmark in the box, leave it alone
so you can do the following: If there is any problem with the
username, click at the end of the problem, backspace over it,
then type the correction. Assume that there's a problem with
the password, so click at the end of the dots for the password,
backspace over them, then type the correct password. Click on
Apply, then OK, then Close.
